Yankees Offer Gets Rejected By Cy Young Award Winner Blake Snell?
The Yankees allegedly have offered a deal to 2023 National League Cy Young Award winner Blake Snell, according to the New York Post’s Jon Heyman.
Yankees Offer Gets Rejected By Cy Young Award Winner Blake Snell?
The New York Yankees could, after all, take another big swing during the summer.
New York has been connected to a number of arms and may need another starting pitcher. Although the Yankees haven’t been able to finalize a trade just yet, one may happen soon.

RHP Marcus Stroman was signed by the New York Yankees to a $37 million, two-year contract with a three-year option. The terms of the deal are still being finalized as the physical is still pending. But before to Stroman’s signing, Blake Snell, the current NL Cy Young, was strongly connected to the Yankees.
“The Yankees made an opening offer to top free-agent starter Blake Snell, The Post has learned,” Heyman stated. “However, with little to no evidence of significant progress on Snell or two other top rotation targets — free agent Jordan Montgomery or trade option Dylan Cease — the Yankees are starting to look a bit more seriously to the next pitchers on their list, including former (New York Met) Marcus Stroman.

“Not only do the Yankees remain far apart on a Snell deal, they’re no closer in Cease trade talks — the White Sox want a big prospect package including top outfield prospect Spencer Jones — and they’re starting to believe Montgomery prefers to return to Texas or go somewhere else.”
One of the clubs that has been linked to Snell the most in recent weeks is New York. They appear to be connected with most or all of the well-known pitchers available, which accounts for at least some of it. They’ve been connected to old pal Jordan Montgomery and right-hander Marcus Stroman in free agency. Regarding trades, rumors link the Yankees to players like Shane Bieber, Dylan Cease, and Jesús Luzardo.

It was said that an agreement was almost reached by both sides. But after Snell rejected the Yankees’ last contract offer, the Bronx Bombers were forced to sign Stroman as backup. But why did the former Padres ace not agree to sign in New York?
A five-year, $150 million contract was offered to Snell by the Yankees, according to Dominican MLB Insider Mike Rodríguez. The LHP, however, refused to accept those conditions as he desired a higher AAV or an extension of the deal by one year.
After the talks came to a standstill, the Yankees chose to acquire Stroman.
