DK Metcalf Is Fined By NFL Again: Penalties Seahawks Star Received Till Date

D.K. Metcalf is well-known. And now the star wide receiver for the Seattle Seahawks is paying the price — $19,123 in the form of an NFL punishment — for something that the opponent from last week kind of foresaw.

DK Metcalf Is Fined By NFL Again: Penalties Seahawks Star Received Till Date

Seattle’s fourth consecutive loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday was just one of numerous mishaps that occurred. The 49ers’ Fred Warner intercepted a Drew Lock throw with almost three minutes remaining, thereby capping the Niners victory.

In response to Metcalf’s transgressions, Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said that the wide receiver “has to elevate above” them.

The Pro Bowl receiver doesn’t want to change his style of play, though.

“I’m not going to change the way I play,” Metcalf said earlier in the season.

When questioned about Metcalf’s penalties a little while ago, Carroll informed the media that he brought up the matter in a Monday team meeting to emphasize how important it is to address it.

“We put all the penalties on the board in Monday’s meetings and the guys who had the most were on the top, and he was up there with another guy,” Carroll stated. “Whatever our problems may be, we all need to own up to them and accept them. In this instance, it so happens that he is receiving a call.

As listed by Spotrac, Metcalf’s offences are as follows:

  • Dec. 10, 2023: According to reports, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan informed his players that he wanted Metcalf to “lose his mind” in their Week 14 game. Metcalf was ejected late in the game after he slammed 49ers linebacker Fred Warner to the ground and grabbed Warner’s face mask after the two got up. Metcalf was fined $19,123 for fighting as a result.
  • Oct. 15, 2023: Following his unnecessary roughness penalty in Week 6 against the Bengals, Metcalf was fined $16,391 for unsportsmanlike behavior. Following the whistle, Metcalf shoved Cincinnati CB Cam Taylor-Britt from behind, which led to the punishment.

  • Sept. 10, 2023: Metcalf wasted little time losing money in the 2023 season. The wide receiver let loose on Los Angeles CB Ahkello Witherspoon during the Seahawks’ season opener against the Rams in Week 1. A taunting penalty was called after the hit, which came quite late and behind the action. Metcalf was assessed two separate fines of $10,927 for each of those offenses, for a total of $21,854.
  • Jan. 1, 2023: Metcalf’s New Year’s resolution for 2023 clearly was not to reel in the emotions. For acting in an unsportsmanlike manner during a New Year’s Day game against the Jets, Metcalf was fined $21,219.
  • Dec. 4, 2022: The Seahawks star has quite the history with the Rams. Week Thirteen of the 2022 season, Metcalf was hit with a $10,609 fine for unsportsmanlike conduct after head-butting Rams cornerback Jalen Ramsey.

  • Nov. 13, 2022: Arguing with the officials is never a good idea, and Metcalf found that out the hard way during Week 10 of the 2022 season. He was penalized for protesting an uncalled defensive pass interference penalty in the end zone during the team’s game against the Buccaneers. Metcalf paid a steep price for it, as the NFL fined him $29,785. Despite the wide receiver for the Seahawks appealing the sanction, the league upheld it.

  • Nov. 14, 2021: In Week 10 of the 2021 season, Metcalf let his frustrations get the best of him during a 17-0 loss to the Packers. The Seahawks player and Packers defender Henry Black got into a brawl with less than two minutes remaining in regulation. Furthermore, was he ejected for fighting, but he also received a $6,949 fine.

  • Dec. 13, 2020: Metcalf’s first-ever fine in the NFL did not come from his aggression. In actuality, it was brought on by his touchdown celebration during a rout of the Jets in Week 14 of the 2020 campaign. Metcalf’s embrace of the goal posts was not well received by the league, as seen by the $6,131 fine imposed on him.
