Star quarterback Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs and head coach Andy Reid yelled at referees after their Sunday night 20-17 loss to the Buffalo Bills.
Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes & Coach Andy Reid Bashes NFL Referees Post Game
A disgruntled Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs were left “talking about the refs” for the second straight week, this time because wide receiver Kadarius Toney’s offside penalty call on Sunday prevented what might have been an incredible finale against the Buffalo Bills.
A 49-yard touchdown consisting of a cross-field lateral from tight end Travis Kelce to Toney was erased by the penalty. With less than a minute left, the play would have put the Chiefs up.
Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid should blame themselves, not the officiating. The Chiefs have a history of sloppy offsides penalties.
It was the right call. It doesn’t matter how much it impacted the game or how “legendary” the play would’ve been.

Instead, following the penalty, they turned the ball over on downs and fell 20-17, suffering their second consecutive loss.
After the team fumbled the ball on downs in their last drive, Mahomes became enraged. He slammed his helmet against the ground, was spotted yelling at authorities, and needed to be restrained. He seemed to be unhappy at the missed offsides call on Buffalo Bills star Von Miller and the offsides call on Kadarius Toney.
Following the game, he pretended to be the victim, saying that the call had decided the result of the game and that the NFL had suffered as a result.

“It’s tough to swallow. Not only from me, and football in general, to take away greatness like that, for a guy like Travis to make a play like that, you want to see the guys on the field decide the game,” Patrick said. “To have a flag change the outcome of the game. I’ve never had offensive offsides called. If it does, they warn you. There wasn’t a warning the entire game. And then you make a call like that in the final minute? Another game, we’re talking about the refs. It’s not what we want for the NFL.”
After the game, Patrick wasn’t the only Mahomes player to criticize the officials. His wife Birttany uploaded an Instagram story in the last moments, captioning a video of a referee with the hashtag “MVP.”
Both Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes know what the REAL problem is, and no, it’s not the refs. Last night’s game was simply a perfect example of what this team has been struggling with all season.

“Usually I get a warning before something like that happens,” Reid said. “It’s a bit embarrassing in the National Football League for that to take place. … I’ve been in the league for a long time. Haven’t had one like that.”
Who was Patrick Mahomes screaming at?
Moments later, Mahomes’ desperate try to save the Chiefs’ drive failed, and the quarterback was furious on the sideline. ‘We played our f****** a**** off and you call offensive offsides!’ he seems to cry at a referee, slamming down his helmet. That is really horrible!

There’s no way Patrick Mahomes is that upset over the most obvious offsides call.
