Memes Emerge On Rumors Of Zach Wilson-Jets Link, Coach Robert Saleh Responds
The quarterback position for the New York Jets in 2023 is among the worst in NFL history, especially considering how competitively it ended a few plays into the regular season when Aaron Rodgers tore his Achilles tendon. Following his benching of Zach Wilson in Week 11, New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh reportedly wants to start Wilson again on Monday. Wilson was “reluctant” to retake the lead role, the newspaper claimed.

Zach Wilson, the second overall choice in the 2021 draft who never quite worked out for the club, is reportedly unwilling to play again for the team that picked him, which is awful enough at this point. Dianna Russini and Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic have more on this.

It’s conceivable that Saleh just expressed his opinions and that the story is accurate. There was no way he was going to claim while standing at the platform, that Wilson wouldn’t start at quarterback.
The rumour might not be true as well. Having said that, it wasn’t unexpected. It’s difficult to accept that seasoned NFL reporter Dianna Russini just made it up.

Wilson’s reluctance to return as the starting quarterback was understandable given that the Jets had one of the worst offenses in the NFL.

The way the offence has performed this year, the claims that he is reluctant make sense. The Jets head coach, though, has refuted every report.
Saleh said via Andrew Siciliano of the NFL Network:

“Let’s be clear if he were reluctant to play, he wouldn’t be here,” Saleh said via Andrew Siciliano of NFL Network.
Despite having started a team-high nine games this season, Wilson has been a part of a roller coaster that has exposed the franchise’s lack of preparation for a Rodgers injury. With a passer rating of 73.8, Wilson has completed 190 of 321 passes this season for 1,944 yards, six touchdowns, and seven interceptions.

That’s not particularly outstanding, but when you compare it to the efforts of Trevor Siemian and Tom Boyle, Aaron Rodgers’ other backups in this wild patchwork, Wilson looks, well, like Aaron Rodgers.
When the Jets lost to the Buffalo Bills 32–6 in Week 11, Wilson was benched and dropped to third quarterback before to the team’s 34–13 defeat to the Miami Dolphins in Week 12.

Moreover, in the previous six games, the Jets’ offense has failed to score more than 13 points. Since defeating the Eagles 20–14, they have scored 13, 6, 12, 6, 13, and 8 points respectively.
Wilson’s reluctance to return to the starting lineup makes sense, and even if this is only a rumor, we can understand why he may be wary of stirring up trouble again.

What surgery did Zach Wilson have?
Zach Wilson, the quarterback for the New York Jets, had arthroscopic knee surgery this week to trim his meniscus, and ESPN reports that the procedure went well. This is a good news for the Jets since it seems that once the surgeons had a closer look at the knee, there were no surprises.
