James added that he found out about Carter’s 2021 conversation with federal agents within the last 24 hours.
According to the article, he admitted to the investigators that he “could not remember placing any bets on the Lakers.” Business managers are exempt from the ban on wagering on NBA games, unlike players and agents.
The Washington Post was not given a response from the NBA or its players’ association.
Among their many business ventures together is the media behemoth SpringHill Company, which Carter and James co-own.
