The goal of each NFL career is to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. It’s an admission of their superiority. If you don’t stay in the league long enough to play for the position, it’s almost hard to get there.

But that does not imply that all long-term careers conclude with induction into the Hall of Fame. The position that they play also plays a role in who makes the Hall of Fame. Finally, your chances of being noticed are considerably lower if you are a superstar on special teams.

List Of Kickers In NFL Hall Of Fame

Morten Andersen

Morten Andersen, a kicker from Denmark who spent 25 seasons in the NFL, is arguably the most well-known NFL player of all time. He was a member of the New Orleans Saints for the bulk of his playing career. Throughout his career, he was selected to many Pro Bowls and All-Pro teams. He retired in 2007.

From 1982 to 2007, Morten Andersen spent 25 seasons as a player in the NFL. Known by his nickname, the “Great Dane,” he was born in Denmark and arrived in the United States as an exchange student in 1977.

In 1982, the New Orleans Saints selected the renowned kicker in the fourth round of the draft. Before joining the Atlanta Falcons as a free agent, Andersen spent 13 seasons as a player in New Orleans.

Lou Groza

Lou Groza is the first on this list. The Lou Groza Award, named after him, is given annually to the greatest collegiate kicker since he was such a strong player. He did, however, play a wide range of positions, including defensive lineman, center, and tackle. Groza, who spent 21 years playing in the league, is a legend. He has won four NFL championships.

Despite not being selected, Groza joined the Cleveland Browns, where he played his whole playing career. Groza was the final member of the original Cleveland squad when he retired in 1967.

Jan Stenerud

The oldest kicker ever to be inducted into the Hall of fame is Stenerud. He was first selected to play in the AFL with the Kansas City Chiefs, where he rose to fame. After the AFL and NFL combined, he maintained his position of dominance.

Another uncommon example of a player who gets inducted into the Hall of fame by two separate teams is Stenerud. The Green Bay Packers, in addition to the Chiefs, acknowledged his abilities.

Stenerud scored 580 extra points and made 373 field goals throughout his illustrious career. Stenerud, who retired in 1985, is inducted into the Hall of Fames of both the Green Bay Packers and the Chiefs.

In his 19 seasons, Stenerud never missed a game and was so special to the Chiefs that they even retired his No. 3 jersey.

George Blanda

George Blanda began his career as a quarterback and a kicker. He played in the NFL for 26 seasons before passing away in 2010. He had an even longer NFL career because he was a special teams player. In addition to winning titles, Blanda was an AFL All-Star.

In 1981, George Blanda—a quarterback and placekicker in the NFL—was inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame. He continues to maintain the record for the longest playing career having played in the NFL for 26 seasons.

Blanda scored 236 touchdowns and 2,002 points in his career. He is tied with seven other quarterbacks for the record of scoring seven touchdowns in a row and holds the record for the most extra points made (943).
