Jets Coach Robert Saleh Adamant On Supporting Nathaniel Hackett: “there’s no consideration”
After the New York Jets’ offence had yet another poor showing on Friday, losing 34–13 to the Miami Dolphins, coach Robert Saleh stated that he is not thinking of delegating play-calling responsibility to offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett.
“No. There’s no consideration,” Saleh said in his postgame press conference via SNY’s Connor Hughes.
Jets Coach Robert Saleh Adamant On Supporting Nathaniel Hackett: “There’s no consideration”
Running back Michael Carter was cut by the Jets, while rookie Israel Abanikanda was promoted. All of Randall Cobb was benched. Aleksand Lazard sat down.
Watch this and tell me that you wholeheartedly believe that Robert Saleh wants Nathaniel Hackett calling plays and that it is remotely close to being his decision to change that.
He’s doing whatever he can to save Joe Douglas’s ass it’s just sad.

They finally started using veteran Tim Boyle, 29, as quarterback and even moved offensive coordinator Hackett off the field to the coaches’ booth. They also looked to second-year tight end Jeremy Ruckert.
However, the stats barely altered in the most recent sample of snaps when the Jets’ revamped squad attempted to establish a rhythm or anything resembling one.
In their Friday game against the Dolphins, they ran 55 plays for 159 net yards.

Therefore, it would be unjust to relieve Hackett of his responsibilities until he can demonstrate his full potential, even though the offense won’t improve as New York gets farther and farther out of playoff contention.
Only slightly better than the New England Patriots and New York Giants, the Jets now boast the third-worst offensive in the NFL.
Similar to how Saleh stuck by Wilson until he was left with no other option, the third-year coach hasn’t altered his opinion on Hackett.
A critical mistake NFL head coaches keep making:
Don’t coach ‘not to lose.’
For example, the Giants would have beaten the Jets if Brian Daboll had shown more confidence in Tommy DeVito.

On Friday, he restated that “there’s no consideration” to switch play-callers.
Saleh continued to support Hackett despite responding, “That’s a really long answer, an answer for another day, I guess,” to a question about why.
“When you look at it all, and again, it’s a little bit of everything, whether the calls could be better, whether the execution can be better, whether our one-on-one battles can be better,” Saleh said. “It’s taking advantage of the situations we have when we get them. Do I think play-caller will fix that? I don’t know. I don’t have an answer for you on that.”

Hackett hasn’t lost the public support of his players, either.
After being dismissed during his first season as head coach of the Denver Broncos in 2022, Hackett is now in his debut season as the offensive coordinator for the Jets.
Hackett has been operating under less-than-ideal conditions, despite the fact that the Jets have scored 19 points in total over the last two games and have only scored more than 20 points in a game twice all season.

Nevertheless, the other chief executive is deserving of some independent examination. After three years, Robert Saleh joined the Jets.
