The Thunder player is accused of paying almost $6.1 million for a six-bedroom, eight-bathroom luxury home on Lake Ontario without knowing that the former owner harboured animosity toward certain people.

The New York Times examined a complaint that claimed that Aiden Pleterski, a self-described cryptocurrency king who made enemies and filed for bankruptcy last year, had previously owned Gilgeous-Alexander’s new residence.

Pleterski had rented the house and had regular furious guests. Pleterski had reportedly received millions of dollars entrusted to him to invest and spent lavishly on vehicles and trips.

Investors demanded a return of their capital from Pleterski, who was abducted the previous year and held for ransom, according to court documents seen by the Times.

According to court records, Pleterski was even kidnapped last year and held for ransom by investors who wanted their money returned.

According to reports, Gilgeous-Alexander was unaware of these details, and he and his girlfriend left the property 24 hours after someone arrived asking for Pleterski.

Moving into the house in May, SGA and his girlfriend encountered a frightening guest who was looking for Pleterski.

According to The Times, the pair departed the next day and hasn’t been seen since.

Gilgeous-Alexander’s girlfriend reportedly phoned the police after learning about the home’s history and threats made against it, including one that included setting the house on fire, according to CBC.

With a youthful and talented squad headlined by Josh Giddey and Gilgeous-Alexander, the Oklahoma City Thunder have won four of their previous five games, indicating that they are currently in strong form.

“The defendants knew that if the history of threatening visits to the property, and ongoing risk of same, was disclosed, then no reasonable person looking at properties of that type, quality, and price would purchase it,” the statement of claim reads, per CBC.

Because of Gilgeous-Alexander’s performance, the Thunder are anticipated to be a postseason contender in the Western Conference this year.
