Stephen Curry, the standout guard for the Golden State Warriors, will be sidelined for a time due to a sprained right knee, according to The Athletic. With what the organization described as knee pain, Curry was ruled out of Golden State’s In-Season Tournament match against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday night. However, more testing is anticipated to ascertain the extent of his missed time.

Though the Warriors don’t anticipate him missing much time, it would still be a big blow to lose Curry for even a single game considering how crucial he is to Golden State’s offensive strategy. When Curry is absent on the court, Golden State’s offence is absolutely lifeless. Curry now leads the NBA in points per game (30.7). With Curry in the lineup the Warriors have a 116.2 offensive rating, that falls to 111.5 when he’s on the bench, which would rank 18th in the league.

Steph Curry’s MRI findings were made public by the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday, and the news is mostly positive:

“Warriors guard Stephen Curry, who did not play in last night’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves due to a sore right knee, underwent an MRI yesterday afternoon to determine the extent of the injury,” the team announced. “The MRI did not reveal any structural damage. Curry sustained the injury during Sunday’s game against the Timberwolves when he fell on his right knee. He will not play in Thursday’s game against Oklahoma City (sore right knee) and will be re-evaluated at some point later this week.”

Worse, no one on the Warriors has scored more than 20 points in a single game this season, save for Curry. To suggest that the Warriors would miss Curry would be a vast understatement.
