Jim Harbaugh has been suspended by the Big Ten for the rest of the regular season. According to the coach, Michigan found out about the disciplinary action in the same manner as the rest of us.

The Big Ten revealed on Friday that Harbaugh will not be allowed to watch Michigan games from the sidelines for the last three games of the regular season. Harbaugh is still able to spend the week with the Wolverines as they get ready.
In an unofficial manner, the Michigan football coach found out about his sentence while travelling to Penn State.

“Just someone showing me their phone,” Harbaugh said in a press conference held Monday. “Via social media, like yeah, social media.”
The athletic director of Michigan, Warde Manuel, was on the same plane as Harbaugh and expressed his displeasure that the Big Ten administration had not been in touch with him when he was asked whether he expected to hear directly from them.
In an attempt to overturn the punishment, Michigan has requested a temporary restraining order, claiming that there is insufficient proof linking Harbaugh to the complex Connor Stalion sign-stealing plot. The NCAA is still looking at this as well.

In reaction to the ban, Michigan has levelled a serious charge at the Big Ten conference. Michigan officials would be even more inspired to fight back if no one from the conference attempted to get in touch with them prior to the announcement of the news.
Athletic director Warde Manuel, who wasn’t very happy with the news, joined the Michigan coach in learning it.
“Warde was pretty upset, he was on the plane, too,” Harbaugh said. “He was pretty upset that he heard it through social media and not through the Big Ten office.”

On Friday, Harbaugh has a court appearance scheduled. At that hearing, the court will decide whether to issue a restraining order, which would make the Big Ten’s ban void. The two games Michigan has left are against Ohio State and Maryland.
