Jets Star Quinnen Williams Calls Out Troy Aikman For His Remark From MNF

Star quarterback Quinnen Williams of the New York Jets has retaliated against Troy Aikman, accusing him of “lying” during this week’s Monday Night Football game.

Jets Star Quinnen Williams Calls Out Troy Aikman For His Remark From MNF

Williams, the former third overall pick, has only 0.5 sacks this season. Aikman brought up Williams’ performance during the 27-6 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. Williams signed a four-year, $96 million (£78 million) contract in the summer, making him the second-highest-paid defensive tackle in the NFL.

Troy Aikman’s reporting from the Jets-Chargers “Monday Night Football” show, which linked the line to Williams, was refuted by the star defensive linemen, who called it “weird,” “upsetting,” and “misleading” because he had never spoken with the ESPN pundit.

It’s probable that Aikman gave his report the wrong credit.

Aikman asserted on the show that Williams had referred to himself as “the highest paid decoy” in the NFL.

Apart from that, Aikman also said that Williams had discussed changing the defensive system with head coach Robert Saleh to allow him to pressure the quarterback more often.

“I never talked to Troy Aikman,” Williams said. “I never said that to Troy Aikman. Like I don’t know where he got that from.”

“Quinnen Williams, he keeps telling (head coach) Robert Saleh and (defensive coordinator) Jeff Ulbrich they’ve got to come up with some ways to give him some single opportunities so he can get some sacks. He says he’s the highest-paid decoy in football.”

Williams sought to express his emotions at his practice media availability on Tuesday, stating he had never talked to Aikman before, after reading the last sentence of Aikman’s analysis.

Williams told reporters: “Can I say something real quick? I saw something that Troy Aikman said that I said something about being a decoy. Like I never said that, I never talked to Troy Aikman, I never said that to Troy Aikman, I don’t know where he got that from, that never came out of my mouth. I was the highest-paid decoy or something like that he said.

Williams signed a four-year, $96 million contract extension in the summer, but he has only logged 0.5 sacks this year. With a career-high 12.0 sacks the previous season, he was named to the league’s All-Pro First Team.

Aikman was really praising the 25-year-old’s ability to influence the defense without racking up league-high sack totals when he made his remarks during the ESPN broadcast.
