List Of NFL Teams That Never Won A Super Bowl

There have been 56 illustrious and noteworthy Super Bowl meetings in NFL history. The Green Bay Packers, led by Vince Lombardi, dominated the 1960s, winning two championships in 1966 and 1967. In 1969, Joe Namath did the unimaginable and promised that the New York Jets would defeat the Baltimore Colts. He then delivered on his word.

In 1975, 1976, and 1979, the Pittsburgh Steelers of the 1970s won three Super Bowl championships. In 1986, the Chicago Bears won their first and only championship thanks to their nearly flawless defense. The Dallas Cowboys won three championships in 1993, 1994, and 1996 throughout the 1990s. Not to be overlooked is the New England Patriots ascent to prominence in the 2000s under Bill Belichick and Tom Brady. Six championships were taken by them from  2002 to 2019.

Four clubs—the Browns, Lions, Texans, and Jaguars—have the terrible distinction of never having advanced to the Super Bowl among the teams who have never enjoyed the privilege of being crowned champions. As two of the NFL’s newest clubs, the Jaguars and Texans do, in fact, deserve a little leeway.

In 1996, Jacksonville was added as an expansion team along with Carolina. Though they haven’t yet won the big game, the Panthers have advanced to the Super Bowl twice in their time.

After a brief break, football made a comeback in the Houston region in 2002. The Houston Oilers were based in the city from 1960 to 1996 when they moved to Nashville in 1997. After the transfer, the group rebranded itself as the Tennessee Titans. In 2000, they lost by one yard to Kurt Warner and the St. Louis Rams in Super Bowl XLIV.
