Stephen A. Smith Holds Ja Morant Responsible For Grizzlies’s Poor Start

Without their standout point guard Ja Morant, the Memphis Grizzlies have had a poor start to the season at 1-6. Because he flashed a pistol on Instagram live and was suspended for the first 25 games, Murray is unable to support his team as they fight to survive in the Western Conference. ESPN commentator Stephen A. Smith criticized Jared Morant in a recent video for the things he did to cause the Grizzlies to have a bad start.

Stephen A. Smith Holds Ja Morant Responsible For Grizzlies’s Poor Start

To the astonishment of many, the Memphis Grizzlies are off to a terrible start. The Grizzlies really dropped their opening six games of the season before defeating the Portland Trail Blazers by a score of twelve points.

Naturally, the reason Taylor Jenkins’ lads haven’t played as well is that they are lacking a few essential parts. Adams and Clarke have both suffered horrifying injuries, but Morant is now serving a 25-game punishment handed down by the league.

Stephen A. Smith is just one of many who believe that the Tennessee team’s appalling performance can be attributed to Ja Morant. The 2020 Rookie of the Year was called out by the ESPN analyst for his careless actions, which prompted Adam Silver to suspend him.

“The Memphis Grizzlies walked into Sunday night’s game against the Portland Trail Blazers 0-6. This is a team that is considered a title contender when Ja Morant is on the court. With him off the court, these dudes are winless. If Ja Morant was on the floor we wouldn’t be thinking about them like this, we wouldn’t be  looking at an 0-6 Memphis Grizzlies team.

Is he off the court because he’s injured? No. Is he off the court because of some kind of family emergency or some kind of tragedy that took place? No. He’s off the court because he wasn’t thinking about his teammates when he was on the court. See, y’all out there encouraging people to do what you want to do, when you want to do it, how you want to do it, while you got your hand out for somebody else’s money. Shut the hell up.”

After dropping six straight games, are the Grizzlies capable of pulling off a spectacular comeback? Will it take them long, given how they performed in the last game and the acquisition of Ja Morant?

While it is reasonable to say that the squad led by coach Taylor Jenkins is off to a terrible 1-6 start in the 2023–24 campaign, it is crucial to understand that their problems extend beyond the absence of center Jared Morrison.
