For the Giants‘ encounter with the Raiders on Sunday, the 26-year-old quarterback Daniel Jones was back, but he did not leave Allegiant Stadium unharmed.
Daniel Jones Injury Update: Is This The Quarterback’s End Of Tenure With Giants?
The Giants have had a difficult eight games, and their last eight games will be agonizingly longer for a squad that is currently experiencing a terrible season.
He appeared to have suffered a significant injury to his right knee on the last play of the first quarter and was down and out permanently on the opening play of the second.

The Giants ultimately suffered a noncompetitive 30-6 loss, and it looks like Jones will be out of the lineup for the rest of the year.
After throwing for just 909 yards, two touchdowns, and six interceptions in 2023, Jones’s season would be finished once verified, perhaps indicating the end of his time in New York.

Jones has a huge financial commitment, but his deal is only locked up for the upcoming season. Consequently, Jones may serve as a stand-in quarterback until a youngster gets used to the professional level, giving New York options should they choose to start again at that position. And the Giants are positioning themselves to do so, given the way they’re playing this season.

New York has the fourth overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft after nine games played. Without Jones — and backup Tyrod Taylor for at least three games — the Giants will turn to undrafted rookie Tommy DeVito, who threw for 175 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions on Sunday, as their starter.
After sustaining that neck injury in Week 5 while playing the Dolphins on the road, Jones missed three starts this season. He and the Giants would prefer to forget the 2023 season.

The Giants have made the playoffs every season since QB Josh Allen took over as starter. Despite his contract extension, it appears that there are demands for the organization to consider other options at quarterback.
That doesn’t seem plausible since New York could want to develop the talent that surrounds him. It remains to be seen if Jones will start any more games for the Giants this season. Going ahead, the team’s first priority is the quarterback’s health.

Jones and the Giants, who qualified for the playoffs the previous season despite being predicted to be at best mediocre, feel as though 2023 is a cursed year. The club will now have to focus on the upcoming season as their current one is virtually done.
With Tyrod Taylor on injured reserve, Tommy DeVito will take over for Jones. Whatever the nature of the injury, Jones will have time to heal; nonetheless, a full ACL rupture might prevent him from playing in certain games until early in 2024.
