After Giddey performed a flawless sideline out-of-bounds play (SLOB) during the opening quarter of the Thunder’s game against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday night, Hollinger gave Giddey an odd moniker.
“Giddey is a SLOB wizard, gets a crazy one-off like this almost every game,” he said.
Giddey’s pass against the Cavaliers is by no means an isolated incident. From the moment he joined the league, he has been throwing incredible passes right past the defence.

He mimics the arm angle adjustments of a quarterback in the pocket to complete throws into tight spaces.
Giddey’s amazing poker face is among his greatest features. Until he receives the ball from the referee, he won’t give up the opening he spots.
The greatest illustration of this came during the 2022–2023 season when only milliseconds after striking a quick conversation with Kings coach Mike Brown, he took aim at the whole defence.

As a 6-foot-8 point guard, Giddey contributes significantly to the Thunder’s rebuilding effort with his exceptional playmaking and passing abilities.
His abilities on the court are undeniable, even with the less-than-ideal moniker.
Josh Giddey, according to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, is the reason the Thunder can play so quickly.

In their win over the Cavaliers, Holmgren created a lasting impression by breaking the record for most blocks for a rookie for the Thunder. In the final two minutes of the game, the Thunder overcame a double-digit deficit to win their second game.
