NFL Insider Reports The Date For Jets QB Aaron Rodgers Possible Return
Despite losing quarterback Aaron Rodgers to an Achilles tear four snaps into his Gang Green tenure, the Jets are still 3-3.
Only five weeks after undergoing surgery to repair a ruptured Achilles tendon, Rodgers shocked spectators on Sunday by arriving at MetLife Stadium without crutches and throwing for five minutes on the field roughly two hours before the Philadelphia Eagles were upset 20-14.
NFL Insider Reports The Date For Jets QB Aaron Rodgers’ Possible Return
“His superpower is his presence,” coach Robert Saleh stated on Monday. “Him being in this building, being around his teammates, being in the locker room, his positive attitude, his thoughts of manifestation and all that stuff, I think it’s powerful.”

But Rodgers has plunged headfirst into his rehabilitation, and according to Brandon Tierney of WFAN, he could return this year. Week 16’s Christmas Eve game versus the Washington Commanders.
Brandon Tierney, a radio host for WFAN, claimed on Tuesday that he has been “told” that Aaron Rodgers is “targeting Dec. 24” as a comeback date. On Christmas Eve, the Jets play host to the Washington Commanders in Week 16.
Rodgers has that particular day highlighted in his memory, according to Tierney.

However, Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio reported that “some in the medical community wonder” if Rodgers, 39, had suffered from “a partial tear” in Week 1 as he moved around without crutches and threw several passes at MetLife Stadium this past weekend.
On the X platform (previously Twitter), Tierney chimed in on the discussion and asserted, “There is no probability Rodgers totally ruptured his Achilles. Not a chance.

Experts credit the novel “speed bridge” procedure with Rodgers’ remarkable recovery. Injury experts Marty Jaramillo of CBS Sports HQ and NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero have emphasized the procedure’s potency in hastening recovery.
Additionally, hastily having Aaron Rodgers return from such a severe injury would be a grave error. Even a quarterback who is 39 years old would be taking a tremendous risk by doing it! But instead of answering the phone for someone like Kirk Cousins or even Teddy Bridgewater, Joe Douglas rolls with Zach Wilson.

Tierney claims that despite what Rodgers suggested during New York’s 20-14 victory against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, Rodgers may be further along in his recuperation than he had previously indicated.
Rodgers was reportedly on the treadmill, Tierney said. “Walking on the treadmill…he’s on the treadmill and in the pool every day. That’s what I was told.”

The Jets, who were 3-3 going into their Week 7 bye, will play the pitiful New York Giants (1-5) on October 29. Rodgers playing again this season is still a possibility as long as the Jets remain in the postseason race.
It’s unclear how reliable Tierney’s source is, but it seems unlikely that Aaron Rodgers will return at any time this year. Rodgers also intends to play in the next season, making a torn Achilles too critical an ailment to take any chances with. One wrong move, and he may be out of commission once more in 2024.
