NFL Insider Updates On Browns QB Deshaun Watson’s Injury
Deshaun Watson’s time with the Cleveland Browns has been scrutinized since his debut in March 2020. The club spent $230 million for the 28-year-old quarterback to be the franchise quarterback. Cleveland, on the other hand, has a 2-2 record and is on bye in Week 5.
NFL Insider Updates On Browns QB Deshaun Watson’s Injury
According to Mary Kay Cabot of the Plain Dealer, Watson “could miss multiple more games” with what is being described as “a deep contusion that presents or functions more like a strain.”

Watson also did not play in Cleveland’s Oct. 1 game against the Baltimore Ravens. He briefly tossed on the field during warmup in front of Browns officials before being ruled inactive. Dorian Thompson-Robinson, a rookie, started for Watson in that game.
Following the 28-3 loss to Baltimore, coach Kevin Stefanski stated that Watson will be ready for the 49ers. However, Watson has not had a full practice since Sept. 22 due to a damaged rotator cuff in his throwing shoulder.

Despite having just returned from a bye week, he missed every session this week to rest.
Walker was promoted to Cleveland’s No. 2 quarterback earlier this week after being signed to the practice squad in August. He surpassed rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson, who took over for Watson on Oct. 1 and threw three interceptions against the Baltimore Ravens in his NFL debut.

Walker was 4-3 in seven starts with the Carolina Panthers over the last three seasons. He has completed 131 of 228 throws (57.5%) with five touchdowns and 11 interceptions in 15 career games.
According to a story from earlier this week, Watson might need 2-6 weeks to fully recover from his setback.
“(Watson) won’t be back out on the field again until he can throw normally and without pain — however long that takes,” Cabot said in a statement. Cabot added that it “doesn’t appear” Watson needs season-ending surgery to fix the problem.

With Deshaun Watson likely out multiple more games with his shoulder injury, the #Browns are "interested" in bringing in a veteran QB.Washington may not want to give him up, but Jacoby Brissett had previous success in Cleveland and would make sense. pic.twitter.com/VQd81d8lLE

While Watson allegedly “aggravated” several teammates by not playing against the Ravens, both offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt and head coach Kevin Stefanski have backed the signal-caller and stated that his QB1 wants to return to the field as soon as possible.
