His girlfriend, Tatu Baby, subsequently told TMZ that the incident was triggered by Chickillo’s mental condition, which she believes stems from a football concussion.

TMZ received a video of the ex-linebacker getting arrested while naked and barefoot. However, according to authorities, he was not detained and is not being charged by anybody at the doctor’s office.

Chickillo was placed on psychiatric hold for 72 hours.

Chickillo was drafted in the sixth round by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2015 NFL Draft. The former Miami Hurricane spent five seasons with the team. He subsequently played one more season with the Broncos before hanging up his cleats in 2020.

In his career, he has 108 total tackles, 8.5 sacks, and three forced fumbles.

Chickillo’s father, Tony, and grandpa, Nick, both played in the NFL and at Miami. Tony Chickillo appeared in three NFL seasons, two with the Chargers and one with the Jets. Nick Chickillo played with the Chicago Cardinals (now the Arizona Cardinals) for one season.

Chickillo was arrested on an assault allegation in 2019 following an alleged physical confrontation with his girlfriend at the time, Canadian track and field Olympian Alysha Newman, however, the charges were eventually dropped after she declined to testify against him.

Anthony Chickillo will leave the NFL in 2021.

“My whole life my dream was to go to the University of Miami and play in the NFL,” he captioned an Instagram post at the time. “I am so grateful for the opportunity and thankful for every one of the teams that gave me a shot. The game of football is a part of my family and will always be forever. Thank you for the support, everyone!”
