Giants’ Brian Daboll Frustrated With Daniel Jones Post Horrible Interception

After a game-winning, full-field pick-six on Monday night, cameras recorded Giants coach Brian Daboll chatting with quarterback Daniel Jones as he walked off the field. Daboll was then observed handing Jones a photograph on a tablet before discarding it with a spin as he walked away.

A troubling picture unfolded after the Giants quarterback threw a pick-six, giving the Seattle Seahawks a 21-3 lead late in the third quarter. Daboll approached Jones as he exited the field, apparently agitated, and said something to the fifth-year quarterback.

Jones appeared to ignore his head coach and walked right by him without addressing him or what he was attempting to convey.

“I was trying to show him — kind of see what he thought and then kind of tell him what I saw,” Daboll told reporters in response to that question.

What was supposed to happen in the play that ended up going the wrong way for a touchdown?

“Yeah, I’m not gonna get into the particulars of it,” Daboll said. “Just, we didn’t get  the job done.”

The specifics appear to be self-evident. Tight end Darren Waller was wide open in the end zone. Instead, Jones passed it to a different player. Devon Witherspoon of the Seattle Seahawks jumped the route.

Brian Daboll was clearly upset with his quarterback’s decision to make the throw and was seen berating him as he walked off the field on the sideline.

Jones did not throw a touchdown pass in the Giants’ 24-3 loss, which lowered them to 1-3. He concluded the night with 27 completions for 203 yards.

Jones has a career record of 1-11 in primetime games entering Sunday’s game against the Seahawks.

Big Blue’s sole primetime win came in December when they upset the Washington Commanders 20-12. So far, the 2023 season has been difficult for the Giants’ quarterback, who signed a four-year, $160 million contract.
