Robert Griffin III Criticises Coach Sean Payton For Blaming The Loss On The Quarterback
The Denver Broncos are coming off one of the worst losses in NFL history, allowing 70 points to the explosive offence of the Miami Dolphins, who were utterly relentless in Week 3. Where the coach is blaming the Quarterback, a former NFL Star Robert Griffin III is here to his rescue.

The Broncos were unable to stop Tua Tagovailoa and company, as Miami could do whatever they wanted on the football field, whether it was dominating via the air or on the ground.

Instead of taking responsibility for the loss, Payton emphasized how Wilson might have performed better against the Dolphins. Former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III disagreed with the Broncos’ head coach and defended the veteran QB.
Griffin had this to say:
“The head coach Sean Payton has been pointing the finger at everybody else except for himself. When they got 70 points put on them by the Miami Dolphins and he had to go to his press conference, he decided, no, I’m not going to sit here and take the bullets for the team.
Me either!!!!https://t.co/vYp4vFUuPM

“When his quarterback, Russell Wilson, actually played pretty good. He talked about how he can’t get plays in from the sideline. But the bottom line is for Sean Payton to do everything that he’s done to Russell Wilson, when he came in the door, he was trying to make it seem like he was not the problem.

“When you play a quarterback like Russell Wilson, who has won a Super Bowl and is a Hall of Famer, when you treat him the way that Sean Payton has, it just feels to me like he doesn’t want him to be his quarterback.”
Nobody was watching the Broncos offense in the 4th quarter of a 50 point blowout but this 46 yard hook up between Russell Wilson and Jerry Jeudy was still pretty sick! pic.twitter.com/B1YwBEpEwl

Griffin said that Payton isn’t taking enough responsibility, instead blaming Russell Wilson’s performance, who has completed 65.4 percent of his throws for 791 yards, six touchdowns, and two interceptions. Those stats aren’t going to earn Wilson the MVP, but they are a significant increase over the previous season.
FWIW
That was the best game I have graded on Russell Wilson since he became a Bronco.

Griffin makes an excellent argument, since Payton stated that Dnever’s troubles in 2022 were due to former head coach Nathaniel Hackett and his coaching staff, rather than Wilson. After three games, he’s not exactly singing the same song, and Griffin is calling him out for his hypocrisy.
