Analyst Chris Simms On Jalen Hurts ‘Tush-Push’: “Go crazy, try to kill the quarterback”
Consider Chris Simms a tush push extremist.
The former quarterback-turned-analyst provided an unexpected counterpoint to the Eagles’ infamous “brotherly shove,” in which their linemen pack the pocket like sardines and propel QB Jalen Hurts over the first down marker on short-yard scenarios.
Simms, who almost died on the field after rupturing his spleen during a 2006 game, stated that when the tush push is performed, opposing defenders “head-hunt” the quarterback.
This is a bad look for Chris Simms on the Eagles 'Tush Push' play:
"If I was a Defensive Coach, I'd be going — go headhunting on the QB here — Go crazy, try to kill the QB."
After Mike Florio helps him, Simms says he didn't mean it like that.. then why even say "Kill the QB?"… https://t.co/PCH53oZRPK pic.twitter.com/JpVMAaVBTR

Analyst Chris Simms On Jalen Hurts ‘Tush-Push’: “Go crazy, try to kill the quarterback”
It’s also known as the Tush Push or the “Brotherly Shove.” The Eagles’ unusual rugby-style short-yardage play has proved unstoppable since it debuted, and numerous NFL analysts have argued that it should be banned.
But NFL commentator Chris Simms, everyone’s favourite Jalen Hurts hater, took it to an unhealthy new level.
What Chris Simms probably meant isn't that big of deal, but to say go "headhunt the QB" from a position of a media member wasn't the best choice of words.
Earlier today Jalen Hurts talked about people wishing him harm over the play, doesn't seem right.https://t.co/ZBApFD5mHp

Simms went into his objection to the play on Pro Football Talk with Mike Florio, claiming that if he were a defensive coach, his method of stopping it would be to purposefully harm Hurts.
Former quarterback and current analyst Chris Simms made an audacious suggestion on NBC Sports’ PFT Live:
“If I was a defensive coach, I’d be going with, go head hunting on the quarterback here. Go ahead, let them have it., dive over go crazy, try to kill the quarterback. That’s what I would do… You know I don’t mean kill but I mean, just make them pay make them think twice about doing it.”

However, in Simms’ defence, there have supposedly been demands to outlaw the QB sneak because of the potential physical and physiological hazards. Hurts was asked about this in a recent media scrum, but he declined to comment, saying:
“I have no thoughts on it. We’re the only people doing it as well as we are. There was a guy who even wanted me hurt for it, too.”

Given the structure of the NFL code, it’s doubtful that Simms’ techniques would be taken seriously. So, despite Simms’ best efforts, it appears the tush push is here to stay. And what better way to destroy your opponents than to repeat the same perplexing deception game after game until someone demonstrates they can stop you?
