Is Taylor Swift’s Romantic Connection With Travis Kelce Way Bigger Than The NFL Game?
The sports media has been consumed with Taylor Swift and her on-the-rise relationship with Travis Kelce for the past three days. They’ve taken over EVERYTHING, let me rephrase that.
Swift has now entered the sports world, a field she previously ruled with her music and entertainment. It’s impossible to avoid the coverage since it’s been constant.
It’s entertaining, and it’s been the topic of conversation in all of my group chats as a fan of Taylor Swift. But as someone who also works in and covers the sports, music, and entertainment industries, I would advise some caution to sports executives who are reportedly only now learning about the influence of Swift and the Swifties.

It’s true that Swift’s “Let’s f’n go!” after a score by Kelce this past weekend was quite awesome and quickly went viral.
Last week, following a Kelce score, broadcaster Ian Eagle made a witty reference to a Swift song, earning him many laughs.

Sports enthusiasts are different from those who follow the entertainment industry, which the sports media, particularly television networks, fail to recognize.
The laughter will eventually give way to groans and, eventually, animosity at Swift, Kelce, and the broadcast networks that are promoting it, I’d contend. This will probably happen sooner than you may expect.

To be clear, I DON’T BLAME the broadcast networks and media for focusing so much attention on Swift and Kelce right now. If they didn’t cover it, it would be almost like a breach of duty. Swift watched the Chiefs game on Sunday, and the ratings for the event have just been made public.
