Eli Manning Gave A Bold Take On Jets QB Zach Wilson

While some fans and analysts believe Zach Wilson is the wrong quarterback for the New York Jets, Eli Manning believes otherwise. Manning, the New York Giants’ two-time Super Bowl champion quarterback, believes Wilson is the proper decision for the Jets. On Tuesday, the former spoke with The Spun’s Chris Rosvoglu about the Jets’ quarterback issue.

Eli Manning, a former New York Giants quarterback, understands what current New York Jets starting quarterback Zach Wilson is going through this season and has some advice for the 24-year-old.

“I think Zach is the guy. I think that’s hard on him. It’s a brand new offense, and this offense was tailored around Aaron Rodgers They put in plays that Aaron was most familiar with and knew the best. Now, you got an offence that needs to be tailored around Zach Wilson. He’s got to communicate with the coaches and say which plays he’s most comfortable with. It’s a tough situation for sure,” Eli Manning said.

“He’s got to communicate with the coaches and say which plays he’s most comfortable with,” Manning said about Wilson while speaking with Chris Rosvoglou of The Spun. “It’s a tough situation for sure. He’s a young kid trying to figure this out. The Jets can be a bit patient with him because they have a good defence, but they have to support him and rally around him. He’s getting hit at all angles from the media and everybody.”

Wilson finished 18 of 36 throws for 157 yards and no touchdowns. Fortunately, Jets head coach Robert Saleh supports Zach Wilson.

“He’s our unquestioned quarterback. He’s not the reason we lost yesterday,” Saleh said.

Wilson was benched many times by Jets head coach Robert Saleh last season and was slated to spend the 2023 season watching and studying behind future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers subsequently suffered a ruptured Achilles in Week 1, and Wilson struggled in both starts as the Jets fell to 1-2 heading of this Sunday’s prime-time home game against the 2-1 Kansas City Chiefs.
