Get To Know The Highest-Paid NFL Coach
The average value of an NFL club has risen from $100 million to $4.14 billion during the last three decades. During that time, the average coach’s pay has risen from around $300,000 to over $6 million.
Unlike athletes, NFL head coaches are not subject to a pay cap, and most have extended contracts. If their team does well, a coach’s contract gets extended before it ends. If the squad is having difficulties, the coach may be fired at any time.
As the 2023 NFL season begins, fans and armchair quarterbacks will begin analyzing their teams’ performance, with coaches receiving the most attention.
Sean McVay said, "We attack success. We don't fear failure."
There will always be challenges.
There will always be setbacks.
But when you're afraid to fail, you paralyze yourself.

With Week 1 of the 2023 NFL season underway, it’s worth taking a peek at the salaries of the league’s top coaches. A good one may turn around the fortunes of a franchise. A flop can result in millions of dollars being squandered.
The New England Patriots pay Bill Belichick $20 million a year, making him the highest-paid coach in the NFL, and deservedly so, with six Super Bowl rings and 23 years of experience. He is also the all-time leader in postseason victories for a coach and a three-time AP Coach of the Year.

While he is not the highest-paid head coach, Sean Payton is still a top earner after being acquired in a stunning trade from the New Orleans Saints after the 2022 season. In addition to giving up a first-round selection in 2023 and a second-round pick in 2024, Denver signed Payton to a five-year deal worth $85-$100 million.
The last time we saw such a significant commitment was when the Raiders gave Jon Gruden a 10-year, $100 million contract a couple of years ago. Denver is hoping that making Payton the second-highest-paid NFL coach goes differently than expected.

Pete Carroll, 71, is still going strong in Seattle. He achieved this position among the NFL’s highest-paid coaches by posting a career.589 winning percentage and winning the Super Bowl in 2013.
Sean McVay, 30, was the NFL’s youngest head coach when he was appointed in 2017. Since then, the Los Angeles Rams have only missed the playoffs twice. He was promoted after being the youngest coach to win Super Bowl LVI in 2022.
