James Dolan Isn’t Really A Fan Of Owning The Teams

Dolan, it turns out, dislikes being an owner as well.

“I don’t really like owning teams,” Dolan told The New York Times.

Dolan owns both the Knicks and the Rangers, but there is significantly less animosity aimed at him for his hockey ownership since he is considered hands-off in hockey operations.

The 68-year-old told The New York Times that the Rangers and Knicks are “near and dear to my heart,” but he is put off by the economics of ownership, which he describes as “kind of sleepy.”

He acknowledged that he does not love being the governor of some of the country’s most well-known sports clubs. Dolan told the Times that his enterprises made him $1 billion and that he didn’t know what to do with it.

Dolan explored buying a baseball or soccer franchise to diversify his holdings but opted against it. He did not wish to manage another sports team. According to the New York Times, the economics of sports ownership are “kind of sleepy.”

The publication detailed how a fan approached Dolan during a concert and said, “Let’s go Knicks,” demonstrating how fans of his teams are vociferous no matter the circumstance or surroundings, and how a profound connection with the team “is not Mr. Dolan’s vibe.”

“Basically, every fan thinks of themselves as the owner/general manager,” Dolan explained to The New York Times.

“Being a professional sports owner in New York, you’re not loved until you’re dead,” he continued.

This millennium’s conference finals.

Fans who chant, “Sell the team,” are often ejected from Madison Square Garden since they violated a code of conduct that forbids harassment of arena workers, according to Dolan.

Dolan is said to be worth $2 billion. His fortune stems in part from the ownership of significant sports organizations such as the New York Knicks and the Rangers.

According to Forbes, the Knicks are worth $6.1 billion. They are the NBA’s second-most valuable club, trailing only the Golden State Warriors.

According to Forbes, the Rangers are the most valued NHL franchise, at $2.2 billion.
