QB Matt Corral Now On Exempt/ Left List As He Is Missing From The Team Facility

What at first seemed to be a minor roster change developed into a fairly unusual circumstance and is now causing outright concern. The New England Patriots upgraded Bailey Zappe to the active roster earlier today while moving quarterback Matt Corral to the reserve/left squad list. Reports state that Corral first backed out of the two days of discussions.

Howe claims that Corral has been conspicuously absent from Gillette Stadium for the last two days, missing practice, walkthroughs, and team meetings.

The uncertainty over his future with the Patriots club is presently causing the team to struggle.

However, considering how abruptly Corral left, FOX insider Henry McKenna claims that the Patriots are now “concerned” about Corral. One person informed McKenna that the group wanted to confirm that he was alright and that there was no mental health concern.

“He just left the team, let’s just make sure he’s OK. I don’t know if it’s mental health. I just know he kind of flaked out,” the source said.

Corral was added to the exempt/left squad list by New England, according to the NFL’s daily transaction report. Corral is removed from the 53-man roster by the designation, although he is always welcome back and is unable to sign with another team while he is on the list.

The reason Corral quit the team is unclear. On Friday, he was labelled as doubtful to play against Philadelphia due to a non-injury-related absence from practice.

The practice squad quarterback Bailey Zappe was signed to the roster to take Corral’s place.

The Panthers selected Corral in the third round of the 2022 draft. He joined the Patriots as a waiver claim last week after missing his first season due to a Lisfranc injury.

In order to help the squad deal with this unexpected change in their quarterback lineup, Zappe will take over as Mac Jones’ back-up.

The Panthers selected Corral in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft out of Ole Miss after he accumulated over 8,200 passing yards, 57 touchdowns, and 23 interceptions during his collegiate career.
