The quarterback who is switching teams will also be wearing a bit of himself around his neck.

Prior to the 2022 season, it was revealed that Hartman, a quarterback at Wake Forest, had been diagnosed with Paget-Schroetter syndrome. He had to have an operation to remove blood clots as part of his therapy, and to stop any further blood clotting, the rib closest to his collarbone had to be removed.

Hartman kept the rib instead of having the physicians throw it out, storing it in the freezer for a future purposes.

The extracted rib will soon be turned into a necklace, according to Hartman.

“The rib is good. It’s actually clean. It looks like a fossil-type deal. It is well on its way to becoming a necklace. I think we’re a couple of weeks out from finalizing it. Just making sure that we take great care of it and make sure that it stays in one piece,” Hartman said Thursday on “The Paul Finebaum Show.”

Hartman said that his mother made the necklace, even though he doesn’t intend to wear it frequently.

In July, Lisa Hartman stated, “It’s to get rid of the flesh that was on the rib.” “He means everything to me, so if he wants me to scrape the flesh from his ribs, I’ll do it.

“It doesn’t look anything like it used to. It’s nice and white and clean. It looks like something that can be hanging on a necklace.”

On the necklace, the rib bone does appear much cleaner than I had anticipated; it like a piece of jewelry with a shark’s teeth on it.

Hartman is now giving his own brand of luck to the Fighting Irish, however it is uncertain if he will continue to do so throughout the remainder of the year.

The former three-star recruit was allowed to play again against Vanderbilt in Week 2 and guided Wake Forest to a 7-5 record the previous year. Hartman threw for 3,701 yards and 38 touchdowns on 63% of his attempts.

He achieved it without using one of his ribs, too. As part of his two preseason surgeries, the fifth-year senior had to have one of his ribs removed in order to assist relieve the strain on his organs.
