Jets Strengthen Their Offensive Line Before 2023 Season Begins

One of the Jets’ biggest unanswered questions has been the offensive line. One of Aaron Rodgers’ primary defenders is coming closer to returning thanks to the Jets.

According to Brian Costello of The Post, left tackle Duane Brown will be taken off the physically unable to perform list on Wednesday.

The Jets’ starting left tackle position, which has been up for grabs while Brown was away, will be stabilized by Brown’s return. Mekhi Becton, Max Mitchell, and Billy Turner have all been considered for the blind-side position.

When Brown returns, it’s anticipated that he will quickly take over as the Jets’ starting left tackle, putting an end to the controversy there.

It appears like the Jets’ Week 1 starting offensive line may finally solidify this week, just in time for Aaron Rodgers to make his Jets debut against the Giants on Saturday, as Becton is making a strong push for the first-team right tackle position.

The 37-year-old Brown was examined by a doctor in Houston on Tuesday in the late afternoon without any issues. Before being formally removed from the PUP list, he must pass a physical examination in Florham Park, according to SNY.

The good news is that starting left tackle Duane Brown will soon make a comeback, reports Connor Hughes of SNYtv.

“BREAKING: #Jets OL Duane Brown will be activated off PUP tomorrow, sources tell @SNYtv. He had his doctor’s appointment today in Houston at 12 p.m. & came through with zero concerns. He’s off PUP once he passes physical when back in NJ.”

For his 17th season with the Jets, Brown, 37, has agreed to sign a contract extension. Robert Saleh, the head coach, was ecstatic to learn about it.

Brown has played in five Pro Bowls and one All-Pro game.

In his stint in the NFL, Brown played for the Houston Texans for 10 seasons, the Seattle Seahawks for 5, and the New York Jets for 1.
