Aaron Rodgers recently discussed his career goals with the New York Jets in an interview, and it appears that he is also considering Zach Wilson’s future.

Aaron Rodgers Reveals Huge Plans He Has For QB Zach Wilson & Jets

How long Rodgers will play in New York is a question that many people have. He wants to play beyond this season, which will likely please Jets fans.

But Aaron Rodgers’ confidence in Zach Wilson’s future was eye-opening. The future Hall of Famer is spending time coaching up Wilson, based on his statements.

Zach Wilson, the No. 2 choice in the 2021 NFL Draft, is the man Rodgers sees as taking over as head coach of the Jets in the future.

“I’d like to be able to play a few good years here and then hand it right back off to Zach, and let him go for the next 15. It’d be a really special 18-20-year run of great quarterback play,” Rodgers told CBS New York.

The 39-year-old has already spoken about spending two seasons with the Jets, so this is a little more ambitious tone than Rodgers has used in the past.

Zach Wilson made headlines in 2022 when, after posting a 5-2 win-loss record through his first seven games of the season, he was benched in favor of backup quarterback Mike White.

Later in the season, Wilson would get to enter and play in two more games, but the Jets’ troubles at the position of quarterback probably lost them a berth in the playoffs.

Wilson still has a chance to have a good quarterbacking career, according to Rodgers and others. In addition to acting as Wilson’s mentor, Rodgers is also lending Wilson his support.

According to the remarks, Rodgers is unmistakably mentoring Wilson. He was hesitant to do it for Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers, though.

Having saying that, Wilson may be the biggest beneficiary of Rodgers signing with the Jets. They appear to be getting along, and one of the top quarterbacks in the league is helping him develop.
