Shannon Sharpe, a Hall of Fame tight end who had been co-hosting “Undisputed” with Skip Bayless, suddenly revealed on May 31 that he would be departing Fox Sports.

Although no official explanation was offered, it is generally accepted that it had something to do with remarks made by Bayless concerning the fall of Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin during a Monday Night Football game against the Cincinnati Bengals, which Sharpe did not take well.

The Hall of Famer hinted at a date for his comeback by assuring a fan on Twitter on Monday that he’ll “be back” before the NFL season begins. The Hall of Famer quit his co-host position on FS1’s “Undisputed” in June.

Sharpe responded: “I’ll be back b4 NFL kicks off. Do miss talking about things that have happened in the last month tho. Appreciate the patience and support.”

The Chiefs and Lions will play each other to kick off the 2023 NFL season on Thursday, Sept. 7.

After seven years of opposing Skip Bayless on “Undisputed,” it’s unclear where the 54-year-old Sharpe will use his skills.

His most probable destination, according to speculations, is ESPN, where he will take Keyshawn Johnson’s and maybe Michael Irvin’s spot as a football commentator on Stephen A. Smith’s popular show “First Take.” The time suggested in his post coincides with the start of the NFL season on September 7.

After Shannon Sharpe, Skip Bayless is now prepared to take over Fox Sports.

The New York Post disclosed last week that Sharpe will be replaced as the veteran journalist’s debate “opponent” by former Super Bowl champion cornerback Richard Sherman. Sherman will continue to be on the Thursday Night Football desk for Amazon Prime simultaneously.

On Sunday, Sharpe also sent a mysterious message to his 2.7 million Instagram followers, urging them to “pay attention” to what comes next.

He posted a video of himself working out in the gym along with the message, “Unc is telling all of you 2 pay attention because the REVOLUTION will be televised.”

Even though Sharpe has been mum about his future plans, prominent ESPN broadcasters, including “First Take” anchor Stephen A. Smith, have shown interest in hiring the three-time Super Bowl champion.

In a recent interview with USA Today Sports, Sharpe expressed interest in joining ESPN as a rotating co-host of “First Take,” saying it would be “great” to work with Smith, who had previously co-hosted the program with Bayless.
