Kevin Brown Responds To Being Suspended From Orioles

Just hours before he was scheduled to return to the booth, Baltimore Orioles play-by-play announcer Kevin Brown addressed his suspension for the first time on Friday.

Kevin Brown Responds To Being Suspended From Orioles

After rightly stating on a broadcast last month that the team hasn’t been particularly good in previous seasons, Brown was suspended by the Orioles. As a result, there has been a backlash against the Orioles’ management and broad support for Brown.

Angelos supposedly dislikes bringing up the past lest people wonder who was in charge of the performance. This rumour has taken attention away from the Orioles’ shockingly successful season, in which they are 71-44 and in first place in the AL East.

Brown appears to be returning to the broadcast booth on Friday night for Baltimore’s game against the Mariners, and he wrote a statement on X, formerly Twitter that almost felt like a forced confession in a Communist regime.

“Unfortunately, recent media reports have mischaracterized my relationship with my adopted hometown Orioles,” Brown wrote, in part. “The fact is that I have a wonderful relationship with the organization, and our ownership and front office has fully supported me since 2019 when I first came aboard.

“I ask that everyone disregard the distracting noise of the past few days. I have worked closely with O’s SVP Greg Bader for the past four years, and Jon Angelos and I have a solid dialogue based on mutual respect. We are all good here in Birdland!”

The only specific comment Brown made on his suspension was that he would never want “to be a part of the story.”

“I ask that everyone disregard the distracting noise of the past few days. I have worked closely with O’s SVP Greg Bader for the past four years, and John Angelos and I have a solid dialogue based on mutual respect. We are all good here in Birdland! I am proud to be an Oriole and call Baltimore home, and there is no place in baseball I’d rather be now and for the long haul. Go O’s!”

Brown’s comments during the team’s series against the Tampa Bay Rays last month, in which he mentioned the Orioles’ prior troubles against the Rays before turning things around this year, appear to be the reason he was suspended.

Even the O’s own supporters opposed the decision. Tuesday night, the “Free Kevin Brown” scream was shouted by O’s supporters at Camden Yards.

In addition to working for the Orioles, 33-year-old broadcaster Brown also works for ESPN, calling college football and basketball games.

Even though he claims he didn’t want to be a part of the tale, his career will surely benefit greatly from this tragedy as a result of his martyrdom.
