Days Before NFL Start, Aaron Rodgers and Sauce Gardner’s Weed Smoking Handshake Catches NFL World’s Attention

On Tuesday, August 8, the first episode of the most recent season of HBO’s Hard Knocks debuted, and it featured a fantastic handshake between teammates Aaron Rodgers and Sauce Gardner.

Gardner and Rodgers attended a Knicks playoff game together practically as soon as Aaron stepped off the plane from Green Bay, demonstrating how quickly the two became friends. The two have also invented a unique handshake in which they pretend to smoke a roach before putting it out.

But that wasn’t the only amusing exchange between the two that took place in the show; cameras also caught Rodgers promising Gardner that he’ll one day be in Canton (the Hall of Fame).

Since the New York Jets haven’t made the playoffs since 2010, the longest run in the NFL, Rodgers, Gardner, and the rest of the squad are entering the 2023 season with Super Bowl expectations for the first time in over a decade.

Rodgers may suit up for the Jets’ upcoming preseason game against the Carolina Panthers on Saturday, August 12, even though he didn’t participate in the Hall of Fame game that was the subject of the first Hard Knocks episode. Then, on September 11, Rodgers will play in his first Monday Night Football game of the season against Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills, making his formal Gang Green debut.

Buffalo is one of the few NFL teams with greater odds to win the Super Bowl, thus the Jets’ week one game versus the Bills will undoubtedly be a good indicator of how legitimate they’re going to be this year. The only other teams in the NFL that bookmakers believe will perform better than the Jets are the Chiefs, Eagles, 49ers, Bengals, and Cowboys.
