“It might have been one of the worst coaching jobs in the history of the NFL,” said Sean Payton after becoming the New Head Coach of Brancos and Pointed Bunch of Disasters as well. Robert Saleh Replied to him in his Way
Sean Payton, the new head coach of the Denver Broncos, was hired to turn around the NFL team that had the worst record in 2022. There are many people to blame for the Denver debacle of last year, but Payton singled out former head coach Nathaniel Hackett for performing what he called a historically poor job.
“They can only beat the (expletive) out of you so much,” Sean Payton said to USA TODAY. “But everybody’s got a little stink on their hands. It’s not just Russell [Wilson]. It was a [poor] offensive line. It might have been one of the worst coaching jobs in the history of the NFL. That’s how bad it was.”

While criticizing the previous administration for the Broncos’ problems, Payton also made fun of the offseason’s favorite team, the New York Jets.

“It doesn’t happen often where an NFL team or organization gets embarrassed,” Payton said. “And that happened here. Part of it was their own fault, relative to spending so much (expletive) time trying to win the offseason — the PR, the pomp and circumstance, marching people around and all this stuff.

“We’re not doing any of that. The Jets did that this year. You watch. ‘Hard Knocks,’ all of it. I can see it coming. Remember when [former Washington owner] Dan Snyder put that Dream Team together? I was at the Giants [in 2000]. I was a young coach. I thought, ‘How are we going to compete with them? Deion’s [Sanders] there now.’ That team won eight games or whatever. So, listen … just put the work in.”

On Thursday, Jets head coach Robert Saleh responded to Payton’s comments.
“I’m not going to acknowledge Sean. He’s been in the league awhile, he can say whatever the hell he wants,” Saleh said. “Obviously we’re doing something right if you’ve gotta talk about us when we don’t play until Week 4 (actually Week 5). … There are a lot of crows pecking at our neck.”
Zero truth to this. We had a great visit and@Broncos Ownership was fantastic!! https://t.co/PU9dP50bSg

Payton is taking the initiative and asserting that the Jets may have invested excessively in the PR aspect of their offseason success. Naturally, New York’s trade for four-time NFL MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers was the move of the spring. Along with signing Allen Lazard, Mecole Hardman, and Randall Cobb, along with the potential addition of Dalvin Cook, the Jets also made an effort to improve his arsenal.

It’s intriguing since there are some similarities between the Broncos and the Jets. Both teams have superior defenses and offenses led by seasoned quarterbacks who have won Super Bowls in the past but were later traded away. Coach Payton is not the first person to think the Jets may be overrated heading into 2023, but it is noteworthy that he publicly compares them to the woeful Broncos team from the previous season.
Note that the Jets will travel to face the Broncos in Week 5 of this season.
