Florida A&M College Football Programme Suspended Post Shooting Locker Room Rap Videos

Last year’s football season-opening saw Florida A&M playing without 20 players, and this year they might be without the complete roster.

Florida A&M College Football Programme Suspended Post Shooting Locker Room Rap Videos

On Friday night, when rapper Real Boston Richey secretly recorded an inappropriate video in the team’s locker room, the program put a halt to all football-related activities.

The program has been halted, according to head coach Willie Simmons, after “a rap video was shot by a prominent rapper in the football locker room of Galimore-Powell Fieldhouse without proper authorization.” Send A Blitz by Real Boston Richey is the video in dispute.

In order to protect not only ourselves but also the young man (rapper Real Boston Richey) in the video, Simmons added, “We are trying to talk to the right people to do everything.” “There are some legal problems (with the video’s release).”

The film shows multiple Florida A&M athletes, and Richey is shown sporting the team’s jersey and helmets, which could be against licensing agreements.

The Florida A&M head coach added that “the video contained graphic language that is not consistent with Florida A&M’s core values, principles and beliefs.” “An internal investigation is underway to determine who authorized the use of not only the athletic facility at Galimore-Powell but also licensed apparel that potentially violates university branding and licensing agreements,” the coach added.

“All football-related activities” have been put on hold, he said, “until further notice.”

Richey gave a performance before to Florida A&M’s homecoming last year. Richey is from Tallahassee, Florida, the school’s hometown.

Tiffani Dawn Skyes, the athletic director in her first year, has also been in touch with Simmons, according to Simmons.

“It’s FAMU, it’s our brand, it’s our facility,” Simmons said. “Kids are going to be kids, but I am also trying to help them understand to be super mindful of your involvement and decisions. We will make a determination to address those (involved) individually or the entire team.”

Prior to its first game under Simmons, the head coach since 2018, FAMU had experienced difficulties before.
