Knicks And Bulls Are Discussing A Potential Trade
As one of the greatest players on the Bulls’ roster, LaVine will command a high asking price.
Knicks And Bulls Are Discussing A Potential Trade
Zach LaVine, a Bulls guard, was apparently the subject of interest from the Knicks, but the 28-year-old’s asking price was “giant,” according to Fred Katz of The Athletic.
Over the years, “other All-Stars have trickled in and out of the rumour mill, including this summer,” Katz wrote. According to a league source who spoke to The Athletic, “New York contacted the Chicago Bulls about their shooting guard, Zach LaVine, but the asking price for the two-time All-Star was ‘huge,’ which is why LaVine is still in Chicago. League insiders claim that the Knicks and Bulls were never close.

The Knicks should trade LaVine to the Bulls for RJ Barrett, Evan Fournier, and a 2024 first-round selection, according to Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report.

“New York may no longer be willing to wait on Barrett, especially if it could essentially turn him and a single pick into LaVine, a two-time All-Star who’s pumped in 24-plus points each of the past four seasons,” Buckley wrote. “Maybe that’s optimistic—Chicago is asking for a ton—but maybe it isn’t. LaVine has knee injuries in his past and an incredible amount of money in his future.

“If this is enough to get LaVine—it all depends on the Bulls’ valuation of Barrett—the Knicks should think long and hard about it. LaVine is truly one of the league’s better offensive players, and his combination of scoring, creation and long-distance shooting could be exactly what New York’s attack needs to take the next step.”

Although the Knicks have a large number of young players that they may include in a hypothetical deal, guys like Quentin Grimes and Immanuel Quickley were essential to the team’s rotation last season.
