Golf Sensation Paige Spiranac Issues Warning to 903,600 Fans Ahead of the ‘British Open’

Paige Spiranac, a well-known golf influencer, gave a brief warning to fans on how to correctly recognise the tournament when in the presence of a “golf purist” in a recent Twitter video on Monday as she preview the year’s final major.

“Hello, everyone, and major season in golf is sadly coming to an end with The Open this week, and your yearly reminder to say ‘The Open’ and not ‘The British Open’ or else you’ll make a golf purist’s mind explode,” Spiranac said in the clip.

Given that they have their own national tournament (US Open), Americans have always referred to the competition as The British Open.

Officially, it is known as The Open.

On Thursday, the 151st Open Championship will begin at the Royal Liverpool Golf Club in Hoylake, England.

Spiranac did mention a few Royal Liverpool winners from previous years, even if she did not provide her predictions for The Open in Monday’s program.

“Some notable winners at Royal Liverpool was Rory McIlroy in 2014 and Tiger Woods in 2006,” she recalled.

McIlroy recently won the Genesis Scottish Open after shooting 15-under par.

“Obviously a huge confidence boost going into The Open,” Regarding his 24th PGA Tour triumph, McIlroy stated.

“I’ve had my chances over the last couple of months and been knocking on the door. … Hopefully this breaks the seal, and we can go on from here.”

McIlroy finished third in the competition last year, finishing behind Cameron Smith, who won his first major championship in the 2022 Open Championship.

Last summer, Paige Spiranac picked Smith, as the winner, joking that she hoped her prediction “ages well.”

“It’s Open Championship time! Who do you have winning? I have my money on Cam Smith and it looks like he had a great start,” Spiranac said on social media at the time. “Hopefully this ages well come Sunday lol.”

Thankfully, it did.
