QB Aaron Rodgers Welcomes Packers’ Rookie QB Sean Clifford To NFL With A Warm Gesture

Aaron Rodgers undoubtedly feels conflicted about how his time as a Packers player ended, but the new Jets quarterback still adores Green Bay and his club. He also enjoys spending time with one young guy with whom he never played.

Although Aaron Rodgers’ previous locker was handed to Sean Clifford, a rookie quarterback with the Packers, they now have a special affinity despite not being colleagues.

QB Aaron Rodgers Welcomes Packers’ Rookie QB Sean Clifford To NFL With A Warm Gesture

The Packers selected Penn State quarterback Sean Clifford in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft after dealing quarterback Aaron Rodgers to the Jets and giving the starting job to his former backup Jordan Love.

In honor of that handoff and his relocation to Green Bay, Aaron Rodgers gave Clifford a unique housewarming gift: a personalized No. 12 Packers jersey with the following message for the young quarterback:

Rodgers even wrote a heartfelt message that reads, “Sean – Welcome to Green Bay! Enjoy that great city & my locker!”

The Penn State graduate and fifth-round draft selection Clifford adored it.

“Not a bad house warming gift … thank you!” Clifford tweeted last week with a photo of the framed jersey.

Rodgers had nothing but positive things to say about the city he had lived in for the previous 18 years when it became clear that a trade was possible this offseason.

“18 years man…Green Bay is always going to be home,” he said in February on The Pat McAfee Show.

Given that previous first-round pick Jordan Love is anticipated to replace Rodgers as the starter, it is extremely improbable that Clifford would play for the Packers during the regular season in lieu of Rodgers.

The only other quarterback on the roster for now is Danny Etling, thus Clifford seems to be the backup.
