Packers Mark Murphy Reveals Which Team Is Featuring On Hard Knocks This Season

Although there has been no official statement on the “Hard Knocks” squad for this season, Green Bay Packers club president and CEO Mark Murphy seems to have some inside knowledge confirming the New York Jets.

According to Murphy’s monthly Q&A on Packers.com: “Hard Knocks’ is a great show and gives fans an inside look at a team’s training camp,” Murphy wrote. “It also provides good publicity for the team. The downside is that it can be a distraction and teams are concerned that other teams can learn information from the show. The best thing to do if you don’t want to be on ‘Hard Knocks’ is to make the playoffs every year. The league (and HBO) can only require a team to appear on ‘Hard Knocks’ if they have failed to make the playoffs two years in a row.”

“I’m anxious to see the Jets and the many ex-Packers on ‘Hard Knocks’ this summer – should be very entertaining.”

This year, no team voluntarily agreed to participate in Hard Knocks, and of the four teams that met the requirements to be made to appear on the program, the Jets provide the most intriguing narrative due to the presence of quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The Jets are preparing for the NFL to force them to appear on the show even if they don’t want to, and Murphy believes that will happen.

To the dismay of head coach Robert Saleh, a decision has probably been made with Jets Training Camp less than three weeks away.

“I know there are several teams that would love for ‘Hard Knocks’ to be in their building, but we’re just not one of them,” said Saleh last month.
