“It was Complete Bulls**t” – Olivia Dunne Rips New York Times Apart Over Hit Piece ‘S*x Sells’

Olivia Dunne gained additional notoriety as a result of one opportunity gone wrong.

The New York Times published an article about Dunne, the 20-year-old LSU gymnast who is a social media whiz, in November of last year. The article was headed “New Endorsements for College Athletes Resurface an Old Concern: Sex Sells.”

When the article was out, she responded by sharing a photo on Instagram with the hashtag “The Times” and the remark “Is this too much?”

She recently discussed how this reaction contributed to her Sports Illustrated Swimsuit spread on the ‘Full Send Podcast’.

According to Dunne, “[The New York Times] wrote a hit piece about me,” as reported by Fox News.

“It was complete BS. I mean, they called me on the phone in November and they told me that they were going to write about my accomplishments and stuff and I was like, ‘OK, for sure. That’s awesome. The New York Times. That’s huge.’”

Dunne claimed that the Times reporter Kurt Streeter’s line of inquiry caught her off guard.

“The interviewer called me and he was asking me very odd questions. It was worded quite weird,” Dunne said.

“He was like, ‘So, how does it feel to be a small petite blonde gymnast doing so well with NIL.’ I was just like, ‘Why does it matter that I’m petite and blonde.’ You can just ask me about NIL without you having to use these weird ways of saying it.”

Olivia Dunne also found it strange that they had a picture of her with a negative headline, wearing the leotard she received from LSU.

She referred to the leotards that they wear during their meets by saying, “That’s what we have to wear.”

“When the article came out, it was a giant picture of me just standing there in a leotard and the headline was ‘Sex Sells.’ So I was like, ‘So, you’re going to come into the gym. You’re going to ask me to pose in our team-issued attire and then put a headline, ‘Sex Sells.’
