Does Dalvin Cook Fits Right Into Dolphins? Is Long Term Contract A Wise Choice?
Don’t be shocked if the Dolphins bite now that running back Dalvin Cook will no longer play for the Minnesota Vikings.
Despite appearing in the second-fewest games of any running back in the top 10, Cook, a native of South Florida, is the NFL’s fourth-leading rusher since joining the league in 2017. In 2022, he rushed for 1,173 yards and eight touchdowns. Although he posted a career-low in yards per touch with 4.8, the 27-year-old did play a whole season for the first time.
Does Cook going to the Dolphins make sense, though?

But when Cook is added to this offense, the Dolphins reach the pinnacle of the NFL elite.
Miami joins the Super Bowl discussion with the addition of Cook, a four-time Pro Bowl pick who has run for 1,100 yards or more for four straight seasons.

Cook said in his interview with the NFL Network that he is seeking for a team to treat him with that much respect.
For this reason, I would be offering a two- or three-year contract with Cook injury protection to set myself apart from the other bidders. A two-year deal that could pay Cook $6 million per season, with the third year of the agreement being voidable.

Chase Edmonds was a backup in Arizona when Miami signed him to a two-year, $12 million contract last summer. Therefore, it is unfair to say that a three-year, $16 million offer that includes a $5 million signing bonus, $1.1 million in basic pay in 2023, and $3 million in injury guarantees in 2024 is fair and respectful.
Coach Mike McDaniel blamed his playcalling for the Dolphins’ 25th-place result in running yards in 2022 rather than the players that carried the ball.

Cook has a six-year career average of 4.7 yards per carry, and his 1,282 attempts during that period rank fourth in the league.
Some are put off by the idea/theory that Cook, who averaged 17.8 touches per game last year, wants to stay as a featured back and point out that the system McDaniel comes from doesn’t use featured backs.
MY TAKE: Dalvin Cook Has The Talent To Make Miami #Dolphins A Super Bowl Contender. All it will take is a Chase Edmund like deal. Let me explain….. https://t.co/oL1WLlDH6w

Cook had his greatest NFL season in Minnesota in the 2020 campaign when Kubiak was the offensive coordinator, rushing for 1,557 yards and 16 touchdowns.
6 million per season?? You’re a Dolphin @dalvincook https://t.co/YkuroFbIer pic.twitter.com/6IInrbaQ26

Although there are numerous impediments, Miami would probably have the NFL’s most feared offensive arsenal if Cook were in the Dolphins’ backfield.
