Buccaneers Quarterback War: Baker Mayfield Has An Advantage Over Kyle Trask

The upcoming quarterback competition between the Buccaneers and the famous Tom Brady isn’t off to the best start. Its a competition between Baker Mayfield and Kyle Trask!

Buccaneers Quarterback War: Baker Mayfield Has An Advantage Over Kyle Trask

Following a few misfires by both quarterbacks, video of journeyman Baker Mayfield and third-year backup Kyle Trask doing light passing drills at the club’s organized team activities (OTAs) quickly went viral. Mayfield’s first tape is especially humorous since it shows him airmailing a little pass to Dominique Dafney, a tight end.

Nevertheless, if early speculations are to be believed, Baker will open the season with the Buccaneers.

By saying, “I’m told that Baker Mayfield has been working like a player who’s lost two jobs in the past, both in Cleveland and Carolina, and doesn’t want that to happen again,” ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler offered some insight into Mayfield’s psyche. Behind the scenes, he’s got a terrific edge.

Mayfield’s career-long experience working with different offensive coordinators might be useful in this quarterback competition. Mayfield’s versatility and work ethic may be an asset with a new coordinator in Tampa, Dave Canales.

In a subsequent statement, Fowler said, “He’s had a nice edge to him behind the scenes.”

The Cleveland Browns picked Baker Mayfield as the first overall choice in the 2018 NFL Draft.

After a stellar collegiate career, Mayfield had high expectations.

Trask, on the other side, allegedly changed his mechanics and increased his accuracy throughout OTAs and minicamp.

It is expected that the battle will continue until training camp so that their performances in various situations can be evaluated. Both quarterbacks have the potential to strongly argue for the starting job.

Trask, though, was selected in the second round of the 2021 draft, indicating that the organization valued his talent and future prospects.

If Mayfield has any difficulties, Trask may have a fantastic opportunity to  take over, showing the team what he’s able to do.
