According to TMZ, Florida police said that they were contacted about a medical issue on June 14 at 5:29 p.m. They find Ray nude and unconscious when he responded. Before authorities delivered Narcan, which treats narcotic overdoses, to no avail, he was receiving CPR from one buddy.

According to the police report, officers also discovered a used needle, a tiny plastic bag, and a blue tablet that was informally identified as Alprazolam inside an empty beer can.

The medical examiner will decide the formal cause of death, the police added, notwithstanding their unofficial finding of an accidental overdose.

At Florida’s Lake Mary Prep High School, Ray III participated in high school football. At Miami (Fla.), Coastal Carolina, and Virginia Union, he played collegiate football.

Lewis III began playing football at Lake Mary Prep in Florida, where he excelled as a running back and finished his senior year with 1,898 yards and 20 touchdowns.

The athlete’s sudden death rocked his close friends and family, with his brother Rahsaan writing on Instagram, “Really can’t believe I’m even typing this but RIP big brother. A true angel. I pray your at peace now because I know how much you was really hurting.”

“I don’t and I won’t ever have the words man, ’cause this pain right here… I love you, I love you, I love you,” he added.
