Kyrie Irving Pushes Entrepreneur Dave Portnoy To A One On One Basketball Game

Dave Portnoy’s incessant criticism of Kyrie Irving finally received a reaction on Friday night. The creator of Barstool Sports tweeted about Business Insider, another of his favorite targets, and included Irving. This happens frequently according to Portnoy, but for some reason the point guard chose to respond this time by challenging Portnoy to fasten his shoes and stop talking.

Like many Celtics supporters, the creator of Barstool Sports is a big Boston sports fan, and he still doesn’t appear to be over the Dallas Mavericks star’s decision to back out of his preseason proclamation that he would re-sign with the Green. It may be challenging to analyze Irving’s future goals, something the 31-year-old recently chastised fans for trying.

Before the guard even left for the Nets in the 2019 summer, Portnoy started talking openly about the mysterious Irving.

The two had a running feud earlier in the week, and Friday night’s rematch proved to be interesting.

Portnoy tweeted about the Insiders’ strike and, for some reason, added, “Ps – @KyrieIrving so far so good on the Karma police.” after mentioning Irving.

Make sure you’re taking care of yourself, David,” the Dallas guard had tweeted in response to Irving’s earlier statement. You can only keep speaking out till Karma catches up with you. Be at ease.

On Friday, Irving said he was “here” if Portnoy wanted to take him on  in “ones” instead of chatting on Twitter.

“I get it David. Enjoy these clips for now,” Irving tweeted Friday. “And if you ever wanna lace ’em up and play ones and earn my respect, instead of always running your mouth, I am here.”

It’s (expletive). I’ll play you 1v1,” Portnoy, who is 46 years old, quote tweeted back. “I’ll beat you 21-17. I’ll back you down in the paint 17 time and shoot (four) jumpers right in your face. Name a time and place. But no healthy scratches. When I say I’m gonna do something I do it.

“I’m not even gonna mention my shoulder,” Portnoy said in a follow-up tweet.

That was all for the weekend’s celebrations, but on Saturday morning Irving tweeted to an Outkick writer (possibly mistaking him for a Barstool employee), which prompted Portnoy to tweet Irving’s direct message in an effort to get the game to happen.

“Umm Kyrie you are getting companies mixed up,” Portnoy tweeted. “He doesn’t work for me. But I did send you a DM yesterday to set up game. Need less talking and more action. Novel concept for you I know.”

Now we are all eagerly waiting for the game!
