Aaron Rodgers’ Tenure As A New York Jets Quarterback Is Still Unclear As They Are Yet To Restructure It

The AFC East squad still has to negotiate on Aaron Rodgers’ new deal after trading the quarterback to the New York Jets from the Green Bay Packers in April.

Aaron Rodgers turned his 2023 option bonus of $58.3 million into a basic salary for 2024 before to the move. By doing this, the QB, who is 39 years old, would earn $1.165 million in the 2023 season and will get compensation of almost $107 million in 2024. To make the deal more affordable for them in 2023 and 2024, the Jets have been attempting to restructure it.

A new ESPN report details how the Jets have been shifting their cash over the summer to create a more feasible cap space to integrate a restructured Aaron Rodgers contract.

The Jets turned the $58.3 million option into a signing bonus for salary cap purposes, freeing up $43.7 million in cap space. Last month, Jets general manager Joe Douglas acknowledged that Rodgers’ contract’s finer points still needed to be worked out.

“We knew at the end of the trade that Aaron and Green Bay needed to work some things out,” told ProFootballTalk in May. “We didn’t know the exact ramifications.

“It was just important to us that the cap number wasn’t going to go higher than it was at the time that we agreed to it.

Given this, New York would definitely adore having a top quarterback at the position for at least the next two seasons. Aaron Rodgers’ current deal, though, makes it challenging for the Jets to assemble a roster the next year.

The ultimate deal terms might reveal a lot about whether Rodgers is committed for the next two years because he will be owed a total of $107.55 million over those two years.

Perhaps he’s just weighing his choices. In the end, Rodgers will get everything he desires, as long as it is reasonable. He won’t ask for more cash than he was paid.
