LSU Football Introduces Air-Conditioned Helmet For The 2023 Season

For the 2023 season, LSU is prepared to debut some incredible new football helmet technology. It’s an Air conditioned Helmet!

Football is difficult to play outside in the Pelican State, as anybody who has gone to Louisiana in September will attest. There’s a reason the Saints call the Superdome home: late July on the bayou is humid and muggy.

LSU’s September schedule includes home games in Baton Rouge, Orlando, Starkville, and Oxford, so the Tigers have come up with a creative approach to combat the heat.

This year, for the LSU Tigers, it could be a little simpler.

For the 2023 season, the club introduced a new air-conditioned helmet and posted a social media video of several players testing them out. The football helmets manufacturer is Tigeraire, a business with headquarters in Louisiana that “delivers revolutionary airflow acceleration technology for hard hats and football helmets.”

Prior to licensing the technology to TigerAire, LSU’s Office of Innovation and Technology Commercialization filed a patent for cooling and circulation technologies.

Before making its debut for the 2023 college football season, the design underwent a number of revisions during the previous three years.

The Tigeraire website also features this quote from Ja’Marr Chase: “Tigeraire keeps me cool and helps me get my wind back quicker.”

The air flow will continue for five hours, allowing participants to take advantage of the cooling effect throughout the duration of a game.

“Louisiana State University continues going above and beyond to ensure elite on-field performance,” explained local journalist Zack Nagy.

“Utilizing advancements in helmet technology is another piece this program has added.

Mekhi Wingo, Mac Markway, and others have given the air-conditioned helmets high praise.
