The Rude Remarks Made By Doug Mientkiewicz Has Left Alex Rodriguez Surprised: “wish everyone well and you move on”

Alex Rodriguez was the target of a diatribe from Mientkiewicz during a recent visit on the “Foul Territory” podcast with A.J. Pierzynski and Scott Braun. He criticized A-Rod for using steroids and even made personal attacks on him.

Rodriguez’s usage of performance-enhancing substances led to his infamous season-long suspension in 2014. Mientkiewicz took offence to it, too.

In 2007, Doug Mientkiewicz played for the New York Yankees. He shared the field with two legendary players from the contemporary MLB era, Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter. Doug had a deep appreciation for Jeter and had just given Jeter high accolades. Doug, however, has some unfavourable opinions to express on Rodriguez, a Yankees teammate and old high school classmate.

The Rude Remarks Made By Doug Mientkiewicz Has Left Alex Rodriguez Surprised: “Wish everyone well and you move on”

Rodriguez took a cool, collected stance while speaking to Fox 5 NY’s Rosanna Scotto on Wednesday in response to Mientkiewicz’s statement that the former Bronx slugger was “going to die a lonely man” during an appearance on the “Foul Territory” podcast.

“There’s always going to be people out there that have things to say, everyone has an opinion, but I certainly would never talk publicly negatively about any of my teammates, especially someone from high school,” Rodriguez said.

“I mean, look, we’re almost 50 now. This is supposed to be the good old days when we look back, and we cringe about some of the weird things that we did, and we’re proud of the relationships we built over the years. So you take that with a grain of salt and you wish everyone well and you move on.”

Rodriguez stated to USA Today Sports’ Mackenzie Salmon in a separate interview that he was “shocked and surprised” by Mientkiewicz’s statements and found them “strange because I always considered Doug a friend.”
