Matt Ryan, To Replace Raiders’ Injured QB Jimmy Garoppolo?

After it was announced that quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo failed his physical and that the Las Vegas Raiders could decide to part ways with him, there has been talk among football fans about the list of potential replacements.

While a variety of seasoned veterans and raw prospects are being discussed for the position of quarterback, Tom Brady emerges as the frontrunner.

It was discovered that Jimmy Garoppolo’s contract, which he signed with the Las Vegas Raiders back in March, had a provision that could cause him to forfeit the entirety of his three-year, $67.5 million deal.

Sources claim that Garoppolo had foot surgery but hasn’t yet passed his physical with the Raiders. “Addendum G,” a provision in his contract from Las Vegas, may have an impact on Garoppolo’s future with the team.

For any reason relating to the Waiver and Release included as Addendum G, the contract protects the team’s right to exit the arrangement with no additional obligation.

Tom Brady, the legendary quarterback, is at the top of the list of favorites. This fascinating prospect has drawn interest, particularly in light of Brady’s most recent decision to buy stock in the Raiders. Brady may need to postpone his ownership endeavor if he entertains the thought of donning the silver and black, since league regulations may make it difficult for him to fulfill his dual duty.

Brian Hoyer, a current player for Las Vegas, is next in line. If Garoppolo were to go, Hoyer may be a good alternative because of his familiarity with the squad.

Meanwhile, Matt Ryan, a former league MVP who joined CBS Sports but is still playing football, has also been brought up.

Ryan, 38, spent 14 seasons as the franchise quarterback in Atlanta until being traded by the Falcons to the Indianapolis Colts last year. Ryan began the 2022 season as the Colts’ starting quarterback, but he only managed to win four games in 12 starts before being benched in the middle of the season. Ryan was released by the Colts earlier in the offseason, and he is still a free agent.
