Jets QB Aaron Rodgers Sits Out The Jets Practice With Tweaked Calf

The greatest NFL offseason signing, Aaron Rodgers, missed Tuesday’s OTA workouts due to a strained calf.

While on the field with teammates and stretching, the new Jets quarterback stayed out of exercises. According to the four-time MVP, the calf injury wasn’t “too serious.”

Following Tuesday’s OTAs, quarterback Aaron Rodgers of the New York Jets spoke with the media and revealed what kept him from practising.

“I just tweaked my calf in the little pre-practice conditioning, so I decided to take a vet day,” said Rodgers. “I don’t think it’s too serious.”

Zach Wilson, the former No. 2 overall draft selection, managed the starting offence while Rodgers spent the day on the sidelines.

Rodgers was attentive even though he did not take part in any exercises as the Jets implemented their new playbook under new offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett.

“It’s been awesome. It’s been a lot of fun,” Rodgers said. “I haven’t been to OTAs in the last couple years, so it’s nice to kind of be out here, be out in meetings, speak up about certain things — adjustments in the offense and additional coaching points. Obviously got a long history with Nathaniel (Hackett) so he gives me a lot of latitude to speak up in the meetings. An opportunity to help out Zach (Wilson) and Tim (Boyle) and Chris (Streveler) and the room is a lot of fun.”

Above all, Rodgers appears to be getting along with his new colleagues and appears to be happy with Saleh’s management style.

“I really enjoy the freedom of expression. Guys are themselves, all the time,” said Rodgers. “They enjoy showing their personalities off and he [Saleh] allows for the silliness at times.”

In his 18 seasons in the NFL, Rodgers has passed for 59,055 yards, which ranks seventh all-time in League history. Fifth all-time in terms of touchdown passes with 475, he.
