Kendrick Perkins Believes Joel Embiid Deserves Better: He Should Want Harden To Leave The 76ers

Harden is most likely to choose to leave and enter free agency, thus the Philadelphia 76ers will need to make a decision on their future. It would make the most sense for him to return to the Sixers, but it does seem likely that he will join the Houston Rockets.

Some speculate that the Sixers’ decision to part ways with Doc Rivers after three seasons on the job may have been made in an effort to win over Harden and lure him back to Philadelphia. But one of Harden’s previous teammates is prepared for him to leave Joel Embiid and the Sixers.

There are reports that James Harden would leave the team for his former team, the Houston Rockets, after head coach Doc Rivers was sacked.

“If I’m Joel Embiid, there’s no way in hell I’m trusting Daryl Morey with the love affair that he has with James Harden, that he’s gonna do right by Joel Embiid. He’s always gonna do right by James Harden, but I don’t trust he’s gonna do right by Joel Embiid. With that being said, if I’m Joel Embiid, I’m watching to see what happens because I would actually love to see Kyrie Irving in Philadelphia with Joel Embiid,” Perkins said on the latest episode of First Take.

“I think he deserves better than James Harden,” Perkins said on Friday’s First Take

The problem with Perkins’ statement that the Sixers should go after Irving is that, even if Harden opts out, they won’t suddenly have $30 million in salary room. Irving is therefore a strange inclusion.

It goes without saying that Embiid wasn’t pleased with the club benching Rivers. That doesn’t necessarily imply that he and Harden have a poor connection, but in any case, as the offseason picks up speed, all eyes will be on Philadelphia to watch what transpires with the Sixers.
