PGA Championship 2023: As An Apology For Hitting A Fan Joel Dahmen Gives Him $100 To Buy Beer!

Take a Joel Dahmen tee shot to the leg if you want to avoid paying for alcohol this week at the PGA Championship, according to one golf fan.

PGA Championship 2023: As An Apology For Hitting A Fan Joel Dahmen Gives Him $100 To Buy

Joel Dahmen, a golfer, has only earned one PGA Tour victory, but he already has a lifelong admirer. Dahmen struck a shot that went off course during the practice round for the PGA Championship this week at Oak Hill Country Club.

In actuality, Dahmen’s shot wound up hitting a spectator on the leg, leaving a welt. In an effort to show the fan that he was sorry for the wild shot, Dahmen gave the fan a $100 bill and told him that the beers were on  him for the remainder of the day.

Pictures of the fan’s leg revealed a significant bruising. When told that each drink would cost $17, Dahmen paid $100 for some refreshments, according to McGuire, who also posted a photo of the pair posing with the bill on Twitter.

As the self-described, self-deprecating “goofball” of the PGA Tour in “Full Swing,” a Netflix fly-on-the-wall documentary series that was broadcast earlier this year, Dahmen soared to prominence.

The television program provided a deep look at the 35-year-old’s struggles with self-belief in an episode titled “Imposter Syndrome.”

Dahmen described himself as a “middle of the road PGA Tour player.”

“The top players … they’re just built differently. They’re mentally just different. They hit it further and they chip and putt better. I’m not a threat when I walk into these things, really.

“I am not going to be a hall of famer. When I retire from golf, no one’s going to remember who I am. I understand that, I’m fine with it. I’m not playing for legacy. Some people are like, ‘That’s why you’ll never be great Joel, coz you don’t believe it.’”

But Dahmen’s top-10 finish at the US Open in June of last year, a major career high, marked the episode’s happy conclusion.

That goes much beyond what many may have anticipated Dahmen to accomplish in this circumstance. Many golfers could have simply signed a glove or something similar, but Dahmen went above and above by making sure the fan had access to refreshments for the remainder of the day.

The Dominican Republic’s Punta Cana hosted the 2020 Corales Puntacana Championship, which Dahmen won. The 35-year-old also came in 10th at the 2020 PGA Championship.
